As in, you saw a super fancy, rare, awesome car, but it was wrecked and murdered your soul right there?

I saw a wrecked Audi R8 V10 being hauled away on a rollback a few weeks ago. It made me quite sad, as I've seen some go by before, and they have amazing presence. I'd hate to be the owner of a wrecked one.

Here are some: http://www.wreckedexotics.com

The only wrecked fancy car I've ever seen wrecked was a 458 convertible.

I saw a new GT-R, right after they came out that was rear-ended on the NJ Turnpike by a Dodge Grand Caravan. It's crazy the first GT-R I ever saw was most likely totaled.

Browsing insurance auctions for 12 hours straight has pretty much made me immune to that kind of stuff, and it also made me question my sanity multiple times.

One night about 10 or so years ago I once saw a red '94/95 Cobra burn to the ground at a gas station. So sad since I am a long time '95 Cobra owner.

Probably this one:

My buddy and I watched an F1 documentary that talked about F1 safety in the 70s and had this clip in it. It kind of wrecked the mood for going to the bar that night.

Personally I get more upset about unusual and rare cars being destroyed. Common cars and expensive cars (including supercars) I don't really care much about.

This was my Infiniti J30 less than six months after I got it. I lost control, and hit a concrete median barrier and a guardrail going 70mph on the freeway.

It's hard for a wrecked car to depress me, because there are so many copies of every car. Even if only a small amout are produced like 100, a single wrecked one means only a 1% decrease in the active population.

That doesn't mean wrecks can be depressing though. Hooning-related wrecks usually mean more draconian anti-hooning laws, and I find that depressing. I'm also kind of partial to wrecked JZ80 Supra's as I know the FF crowd takes one of those out at the rate of 1/day at least... :(

With the Caprice I had had my license just over a month. I was driving while pissed off, came into a corner waaaaay too fast, and put it into a tree at 60mph. You can see how big it was by the crumpled half-moon dent in the hood.

My first car ever. 1996 oldsmobile achieva SL. 2.4l twin cam with a 5 speed manual. I learned a lot from that car.

It was my first car, the memories will last forever. Wish I still had it. Long story short, it was totaled by a bad "mechanic".

J30 was one of my favorite body styles, ever. Not to mention, it made decent power, was rear wheel drive. Didnt have ABS, nor did it have traction control. These things were a blast, looked great and were smoother and quieter than many other cars today.

I loved that car. It missed terribly whenever it rained bad, would smoke out the tailpipe, guzzle gas faster than an H2, and just shake terribly, but only after major exposure to water. Never got it fixed. But beyond that, I loved the car, the way it drove, and how smooth it was. It was an incredible car. I miss it a lot. I saw a white one on my way out of town Saturday, and it brought back memories. It's been 4 years since that car died, and I still miss it every day.

I was not injured at all. My fiance and her cousin both hurt their knees a little bit, but beyond that, there were no injuries. Airbags did go off. We all walked away from that, and I'd never been more scared in the aftermath. Right after we stopped, I was horrified that both of them would have been killed, as fast as we were going, and as hard as we hit. It could've been so much worse, but that car took the impact quite well, and kept us safe.

I can relate. The pearl white was an incredible color. These things were reliable, fast, smooth. Stylish, comfortable and had good factory speakers (bose). Mine was light green with a beige interior.

Sorry for your loss

I don't like much in white, but they do look good in white. The Bose stereos were awesome. Mine was all black, in and out. Sunroof didn't work, and the driver's side power window didn't work either, but it had some great pickup to it. I've owned many cars, and driven many more, and the J30 is in my top 3 for sure, probably in the number two spot.

Driver's 'bag only, the gas vents on the back of it burned my knuckles.

Badly bruised my right knee on the steel plate under the steering column, took 6 months to get full range of motion back.

However, I was able to open the door and walk away.

I know they say today's cars are safer. But with the amount of plastic and composites used on today's cars, can you imagine what an accident like that would look like? The caprice was built like a tank.

That engine can last a LONG time if properly maintained. Its so tempting to buy another one.

Kinja'd!!!0

Yeah it was. All four doors still opened and shut normally after the accident. The battery survived too, and all of the lights still worked.

It was a hell of a hit, though. Both the firewall and the floorpan were bent - one by the engine, the other by the transmission. The windshield was bent in the middle. When the engine hit the firewall it imparted enough force to "kick" the faceplate off of my stereo onto the passenger's seat. The front seats were leaning at each other like drunks walking home from the bar. The carpet was wrinkled on the transmission tunnel where the floor bent.

I think mine had 140k or so miles when I bought it. All I remember is that I put EXACTLY 6,000 miles on it up to the day I wrecked it. My fiancé doesn't quite understand, she remembers the problems the car had, not the thrill of driving it. It's one of those cars that you think, "wow, this thing pisses me off, I can't wait to get another one!" And that's what it was. It was the first car I bought and paid for myself. I didn't pay it off before I wrecked it but I got more out of the insurance than what the price was at least. I would still buy another. Maybe someday.
